About Me

I don’t know how else to say it, I like a lot of things. I have too many interests and I have trouble deciding on just one.

I fit the profile of the ‘distracted professor’, full of ideas, but nothing to show for it.

The idea that I should only be good at one thing is ridiculous to me. For one, it sounds boring. Secondly, it’s the cause for short-sighted decisions that lead to bigger problems. I attribute this to the old quote “if all you have is a hammer, everything is a nail“. In literal terms, if you only have one tool, you assume that every issue you encounter can be fixed with that tool and only that tool.

Each discipline is a lens to look at something. Every time you learn something new, an ultra-thin lens is placed over your vision. You perceive the thing differently from what you initially saw it as.

Being proficient in only one discipline is like having only one lens; all you have is a hammer.

It makes me SICK to see single-lensed people try to solve multi-lensed problems.

Every subject and discipline make up the branches on the tree of knowledge; information is the trunk

So since I aspire to be multi-lensed, I choose to grip the tree by the trunk.

Once again, I’m too scatter-brained and have trouble following through on projects. This site is my way of holding me accountable for publishing my work instead of getting stuck in analysis paralysis.

Under the umbrella of information, we have vehicles we use to pedal it. On this site, I will study and practice each vehicle:

  • Writing – basic direct communication
  • Data Science – filter information
  • Filmmaking – visualize information

I will also supplement these with other subjects concerning the universe and human nature (both the concrete and abstract) including natural sciences, philosophy, and storytelling/mythology.

Ultimately, I seek to educate myself on both ends of the knowledge spectrum. I want to be equal parts: robotic numbers logician and head-in-the-clouds theoretical wizard. My idea of a perfect day is inventing a new technology while painting a picture that leads to another dimension.
